On Oct. 30, The Tower and Montevallo Honors Organization hosted a ghost tour and a scary story contest.
The first hour of the event was the ghost tour. Tour guides from MHO and The Tower led groups around the campus’ most haunted locations, included Main Hall, Reynolds Hall and King House. Along with the tour, they also had scare actors.
The event’s organizers were Skye Anderson, Editor in Chief of The Tower, and Emma Bailey, President of Montevallo Honors Organization.
Anderson spoke on the events’ goals. For the ghost tour, she said, “there was a lot of generational ghost lore and stories that it’s kind of a rite of passage for people to know.” For the scary stories, she said how she wanted people to share their creativity.
The winners of the scary story competition were Aster Williams in third, Laura McCallion in second and Jude Copeland in first.
When asked about the importance of ghost stories on campus, Skye responded, “I think they’re entertaining and compelling, even if I was not attached to the school, I would get a kick out of these stories.”
Anderson continued, “Whether you live on campus or you come here for classes, it’s a very special place with so many years of stories.”
