Hi everyone!
I’m so excited to be back on campus with you all. To our new students, welcome to Montevallo! I look forward to getting to know everyone in the coming weeks as you find your place in our family. Montevallo truly is a home away from home. To everyone returning, welcome back! I hope you’ve had great summers and are as happy to be here as I am. We have a lot of exciting things happening this year and I can’t wait to share these experiences with you.
As we start this new year, I encourage everyone to get involved on campus. Our university has a very diverse group of student organizations that you can be a part of. Getting involved will allow you to meet new people, make new friends and learn more about yourself. With over 90 student organizations, there really is a place for everyone.
As the year continues, I ask that you keep SGA in mind. If you see something on campus that you want changed, let us know! If you have questions about anything, ask us! We are here to make Montevallo an even better place for students and do our best job when we have input from you. The more informed we are about what is happening on campus, the more effective we can be.
Additionally, keep a look out for SGA WOW Weekends! These weekends involve free events hosted by SGA. We have several fun events planned for the year and I hope to see you there! Follow us on social media, look on SGA’s FalconLink page, or watch for flyers posted in residence halls and academic buildings to see when the next event is.
While you’re settling into, or returning to college life, I also encourage you to remember that we are here for an education. It’s easy to get caught up in the fun stuff but it’s also important to remember our academic responsibilities. Montevallo’s liberal arts education encourages unconventional thinking, creative problem solving and advanced adaptability. There are many resources on campus designed to help us succeed. Professors have numerous office hours and are very willing to help. There is free tutoring offered at the Learning Enrichment Center in the library. Please take advantage of these opportunities and make the most of the exceptional education Montevallo provides.
Again, I’m so excited to start this year with you all and I cannot wait to see what’s in store for us. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns throughout the year. I’m so honored to be able serve as your SGA President and I am always happy to help in any way I can. Get involved, study hard, and enjoy the place we all call home. It’s going to be a great year!
