Top Halloween costumes of 2013

Halloween is just around the corner. It is the time of the year for haunted houses to open and costumers to be overcharged for costumes. Each Oct. 31 acts as a yearbook showing the world that yes, we can make fun of ourselves and society.

Google charts the top costume searches each year, and the results are in. If you don’t already have your costume, here are some ideas.

5. Duck Dynasty—It’s no surprise the famous Quack Pack squeezed their way into the top five. With ‘No Shave November’ on the horizon, maybe some guys are just getting a head start. But how hard is it to put on some camo, a fake beard and an American flag bandana?

4. Breaking Bad—Walter White is everyone’s favorite good guy gone bad. But no one wants to see a man dressed in a green button up and whitey tighties. Please just stick to the yellow hazard suit, Van Dyke facial hair and glasses.

3. The Great Gatsby—The precious Leo DiCaprio made women love Jay Gatsby, but it’s officially been 16 years since Titanic–it’s time to move on. There will be plenty of Daisy Buchanans out looking for their long lost love. Guys, this is your chance dress as the wealthy Gatsby and tell your Daisy, “Well, I’m certainly glad to see you again.”

2. Fox—The internet sensation has used our minds as a personal playground. Unless you live under a rock, you know what comes after, “What does the fox say?” Ylvis, the Norwegian comedy group, has made many wonder what a fox actually says. The cult following proves it is far from over.

1. Miley Cyrus—Is anyone surprised? Whether or not the top costume of the year is ‘twerking’ for you, there will be plenty of Miley lookalikes around to entertain your evening. Want to make it a couples costume with your honey? It’s easy! Buy him an old Beetlejuice costume, spike up the hair, and he’ll be Robin Thicke.

Whether you are happy, happy, happy or you would rather be hit with a wrecking ball at the end of the night, just remember Nov. 1 is not a holiday. The university will still expect us to attend class no matter how ratchet we look.
