Physical Plant employee Jimmy Burchfield was airlifted to UAB Trauma Center Oct. 2 after being injured in a work-related accident at the Physical Plant.

The extent of his injury is unknown at this time, however, according to Director of Public Relations Jamie Bessette, Burchfield was conscious on departure. As of 5 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, he is in stable condition.

“We just sent the UM alert so students wouldn’t be worried about the helicopter on campus,” said Bessette.

No students were involved in the accident.
